Objectives

The Sian Bradwell Fund  

• was established on October 3rd, 1990, the sixth anniversary of Sian's birth, to help children with cancer

• is administered by the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation and Hospital For Sick Children Foundation.

• The objective of the Fund is to purchase medical equipment (cardiac monitors, digital weighing scales for infants and young adults, intravenous infusion pumps, automatic blood pressure machines, wheel chairs, saturometers, otoscopes, microscopes, etc.) for the Oncology Ward and Haematology clinic and laboratory of each hospital

•  A list of priority equipment is prepared by the Haematology departments (which are responsible for treating children with cancer), and items are selected for purchase by the advisory board of the Fund.  

• Acquisition of the equipment is made by the Purchasing Department of each hospital.   Occasionally, the Fund may purchase items other than medical equipment for compassionate reasons (e.g.  wigs, special gel mattresses for patients in the terminal stages).

• All fundraising events are conducted by volunteers and 100% of all donations goes to the Hospitals.
