ALPHAMAQUET Operating TableThe Montreal Children’s Hospital is a world leader in pediatric neurosurgery. Of the four pediatric neurosurgeons in Quebec, three are full-time staff members at The Children’s, including Division Head Dr. José Montes and newly appointed Surgeon-in-Chief Dr. Jean-Pierre Farmer. Patients are seen from all over Quebec, Canada and parts of the United States so that they can benefit from this expertise. These physicians work very closely with their counterparts in the Hematology/Oncology Division, where 30 to 35 patients are treated each year for brain tumours. An important equipment need for our neurosurgical team is the acquisition of a specially-designed operating table, developed in close co-operation with surgeons, anesthetists and nursing experts. Custom-built, special-purpose operating tables ensure efficient interventions and perfect patient care event when undertaking the most difficult tasks during a complicated procedure. The ALPHAMAQUET operating table is the heart of an efficient circulation concept for the surgical suite. A tailor-made configuration can be set up, for every intervention and for every need, drawing upon the building blocks in this modular system. The result is a workplace for the surgical staff which simply leaves nothing to be desired in terms of flexibility, user ergonomics and economy. This equipment would benefit all patients who require neurosurgery, including those suffering from both benign and malignant brain tumours. It would also ensure that our neurosurgeons have the tools they need to deliver the best possible care to our young patients. Estimated cost: $90,000.00
