  • Established on October 3rd, 1990 -- the sixth anniversary of Sian's birth -- to help children with cancer at the Montreal Children's Hospital (MCH).

  • 100% volunteer-based.  All activities are conducted by volunteers; we have no salaried staff.

  • Volunteers in Toronto started raising funds for the Hospital For Sick Children (HSC) in 1991.

  • Administered by the Foundations of the Montreal Children's Hospital and Hospital For Sick Children, who also issue tax receipts.

  • The intent of the Fund is to purchase medical equipment and other items deemed necessary for the better diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer.

  • Acquisition of the equipment is made by the Purchasing Department of each Hospital.

  • Occasionally, the Fund may purchase items other than medical equipment for compassionate reasons. Items purchased in the past includes wigs, special mattresses to ease the pain of children in the terminal stages.

  • The Fund used to cover the cost of printing a handbook for parents of children with cancer (text now available on our web site).

  • 100% of all monetary donations go to the purchase of medical equipment.

  • Approximately $900,000 has been donated to the Hospitals.

  • Accounts are audited every year, provided we can find volunteer auditors

  • The Fund was incorporated in 2000  http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/cgi-bin/sc_mrksv/corpdir/dataOnline/corpns_re?company_select=3771750

  • The Sian Bradwell Fund is a member of the Electronic Commerce Council of Canada and has its own GTIN number (i.e. bar code/UPC symbol), which is used in our 'Sourires/Smiles' programme.
