Guidelines for Bartenders
| 1. |
Bartenders: (must
be 18 years of age or over)
Please try to be at the park/dance 20 minutes before the
scheduled start of your shift, to familiarise yourself with
storage areas and procedures. |
| 2. |
Put up the
tarpaulins over the work area to provide shade from the sun
or shelter from the rain. |
| 3. |
If the ground is
wet, do not unload the beer crates from the van. It is best
to leave them in the van and unload them only as required:
if the cardboard crates get wet, bottles can slip through
and break on the concrete, making the area dangerous.
If it is necessary to unload one or two crates in wet
weather, place them under the booths, on a piece of
plastic. |
| 4. |
DO NOT,
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, HAND OUT BEER BOTTLES.
Serve beer in plastic cups only. |
| 5. |
Set up the bar
area so that only one tub is used for all brands of beer and
one for soft drinks and fruit juices. (This saves ice
and space) |
| 6. |
Bottles of the
same brand should be kept in the same area of the tub as far
as is possible.
When the supply must be replenished, move the cold
bottles to the front of the tub, and put warm bottles at the
back. This process should be on-going. |
| 7. |
Serve soft drinks
in plastic cups also, and put the empty cans in a clear bag
re-cycling bag. |
| 8. |
When you take a
ticket from the customer, tear it in half before putting it
into the garbage bag to ensure it will not be used again. |
| 9. |
Wipe down the
serving area from time to time to ensure spills are removed
and to avoid attracting insects. |
| 10. |
If you notice
supplies are running low, please bring it to the attention
of the Volunteer Co-ordinator or Student Helper, who will
complete a request for additional supplies. Up to one
hour may be needed for the student helper to collect
supplies and return to your park, so try to make sure you
inform the Volunteer Co-ordinator well in time. |
