Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q Was Sian a girl or a boy?
A Sian was a little girl.  Her name is Welsh Gaelic.

Q How do you pronounce "Sian"?
A It is pronounced "Shahn", with a long 'ah' sound in the middle.

Q How old was Sian when the cancer appeared?
A She was 5 months old when her mother found a lump on her foot.  It was the first sign that something was wrong.

Q What kind of cancer was it?
A It is called "primitive neuroectodermal tumour".  It is a rare form of cancer, which is usually associated with tumours of the brain.  The doctors thought it started near her pancreas and spread through her bloodstream.

Q How do babies get cancer?
A There is no easy answer to this question, and no one really knows for sure how a baby can get cancer ... especially when both parents are healthy.  The doctors and geneticists think that there is a "predisposition" (better than average likelihood of developing) towards cancer if there is a history of cancer in the family.
